Connecting a BMW or MINI Vehicle

Written by Marine Bourdain

BMW and MINI vehicles connect through the MyBMW app. There are two specific points to know for these brands to make sure your home charging is reimbursed correctly.

1/ Before you start

  • Have the MyBMW app installed and an active account. Download the MyBMW app and log in. If you don't have an account, create one at bmw.fr before starting.

  • Your vehicle must be linked to your MyBMW account. Check in the app that your vehicle appears in the list. If it isn't there, add it using the chassis number (VIN) found in your vehicle documents.

When connecting through the MyBMW app, a screen will ask you to enter a location address. Be sure to enter your home address, not your workplace or another address.

Voltaback only retrieves your vehicle's data when it's near this address. For data protection reasons, this is the only location shared by your BMW / MINI vehicle. If the address entered is your workplace, no home charging will be detected, and no reimbursement will be generated.

2/ Connect your BMW or MINI to Voltaback

  • Log in with your MyBMW credentials, you'll be redirected to the official MyBMW login page. Enter your usual email and password.

  • Authorize data sharing (charge status, make, model, and year) and click "Authorize access." Your vehicle will appear in Voltaback with the status Connected ✓.

Your first charging sessions will appear after your next drive.
