How does Voltaback identify and measure home charging?

The concept

To identify and measure electric vehicle charging at home, Voltaback cross-references two data sources:

  1. Voltaback connects to and retrieves data from the company vehicle (battery capacity, charge status, etc.) to determine the location, amount of electricity delivered, and timing of a charge.

  2. Voltaback connects to the Linky meter to confirm the charge took place at home, confirm the amount of electricity delivered, and determine its price.

Voltaback's algorithm identifies, from the home's overall consumption measured by the Linky meter, the share allocated specifically to charging an electric vehicle, including any losses between the electricity meter and the vehicle's battery. This cross-referencing method relies on a proprietary, patented algorithm.

How it looks in practice

A Linky meter curve shows the home's overall consumption, while a second curve (determined by Voltaback's algorithms) isolates the power used specifically for vehicle charging, across the different peak/off-peak time windows. Separately, a curve of the vehicle's battery charge level over time shows each charging session in color, letting Voltaback tell apart a session that happened away from home from one that happened at home.

Cross-referencing the vehicle's data with the Linky meter's data allows us to issue a reimbursement statement that guarantees you're reimbursed at the right price for any charging you do at home.
